#Basiccolor display colormunki no instrument found softwareResolving this matter will require using profiling software capable of driving both the Discus and i1Display Pro. Whether one can see the difference is debatable. Verdict: The Discus is measurably more accurate than the i1Display Pro. BasICColor promises updates will be forthcoming. As mentioned in our review of monitor calibration sensors, this is the result of the Discus currently only being calibrated for ambient light measurements of specific viewing booths. tungsten lights and natural daylight) were more accurate with the i1Display than the Discus. These values do, however, need to be taken in context. This relationship held when measuring both white and black levels on standard and wide-gamut CCFL monitors as well as panels using either RGB LED or white LED back lights. Overall, we measured the average Discus to have a 10-20% lower absolute error than the average i1Display. Accuracyīoth sensors were highly accurate, particularly in comparison to older colorimeters or spectrophotometers. Any slight lifting off the screen creates inaccurate measurements. The most reliable measurements require a dark room otherwise very close attention must be paid to how well the puck seals against the screen. The i1Display Pro's small size and narrow profile are a hinderance here. The huge size of the Discus makes these irrelevant. ![]() Ambient light, puck alignment - none of this matters. For ease of measurement, the Discus is simplicity itself: place it on the screen, and measure away. Verdict: If small size and light weight are a priority, the i1Display Pro wins handily. We found that using the i1Display Pro in a darkened room gave the most accurate and repeatable results. If the puck lifts from the screen surface even slightly, ambient light can corrupt the readings. The tall, thin aspect ratio of the device makes placing it on the screen without tipping up an edge a tricky proposition. It is smaller than most older monitor calibration sensors and is positively dwarfed by the Discus. ![]() The i1Display Pro is a lightweight by comparison. The Discus weighs as much as a light laptop, so propping up the screen is essential. Measuring a laptop with the Discus is an interesting proposition. Otherwise, the Discus can press hard enough onto the screen to distort colors. The weight is enough, however, that care must be takes not to tip the monitor screen to far backwards. It seals out ambient light better than any other sensor we have used. The comparatively huge size of the Discus is an advantage when performing measurements. If you are choosing one to pack in a bag for on-location shooting, the i1Display is the obvious choice. The i1Display Pro looks positively tiny by comparison. The counterweight - slightly smaller than the sensor itself - is an actual hockey puck. Is the extra cost worth it? Handling:įirst, let's look at the contenders. $1300 for the Discus, $250 for the i1Display Pro (alternatively known as the i1Display 3). The street price differential between the competing sensors is not minor. The mean measurement error of the Discus was consistently lower than that of the X-Rite sensors, but only by a fraction of a Delta-E 2000 (one dE-2000 approximates the minimum visible color difference under ideal conditions). We noted an advantage in measurement accuracy for the Discus over the i1Display Pro/ColorMunki Display. Our evaluations of monitor calibration sensors showed the X-Rite i1Display Pro, ColorMunki Display, and the BasICColor Discus to be the best display measurement options available. X-Rite i1Display Pro: Measurement accuracy ![]() ![]() I think a lot of the time I had this picture of this environment in my head and I would just kind of paint that environment. “I think there’s a lot of mental wandering or meandering going on. “The gold sad face is supposed to represent optimism and the emotion and the pursuit of really knowing something greater,” Gallant explains. The visual identity for Ology centers around a golden sad face overlaying a current photograph of Gallant and symbolizes growth when juxtaposed with Zebra’s cover photograph of himself as a somewhat depressed child. The lyrics of the Nineties R&B and gospel-influenced “Bone + Tissue” read like verses of encoded scripture, but Gallant is clear that his intentions are to “try to subvert religion having any place in society.” Begging for affirmation, he sings, “And anytime I bite the hand that feeds, won’t you lie through your teeth and tell me I’m a monument to more than bone + tissue?” #Gallant ology series#“I realized that when I was writing it, I was basically putting myself up on a chalkboard and dissecting every element that I could,” says Gallant of Ology, quickly adding, “in a non-narcissistic way.” Tackling confessions of loneliness, self-doubt, and regret, the album is like a series of diary entries sung as streams of consciousness. “Weight in Gold” is reminiscent of vintage soul records with a twist of Prince, which was enough to catch the attention one of his heroes, Seal, who ended up covering the song for Gallant’s “ In the Room” YouTube series. Fitting somewhere in the center of Venn diagram of soul, R&B, future bass, drum & bass, and pop, Gallant’s sound has been dubbed neo-soul, alt-R&B, and more. The radio DJ Zane Lowe, who made the soulful single “Weight in Gold” his first World Premiere on his inaugural Beats 1 show back in June 2015, inadvertently turning all eyes onto Gallant, recently described the musician as existing in a “creative schizophrenic place,” which Gallant confirms. Mining the rough, future beats of Zebra, STINT, the album’s primary producer whom Gallant found on SoundCloud, worked to put Gallant’s voice, namely his falsetto, front and center. Gallant, who performs under just his last name, self-released the haunting, future bass-filled EP Zebra in 2014, detailing his struggles living in New York during and after his time at NYU (where he study music anthropology and sociology), trying to express his feelings “in the only way” he knew how. Looking to escape the anxieties of New York and the music industry, the Columbia, Maryland-raised singer moved to Los Angeles in 2013, where he was discovered by manager Jake Udell. “I can’t really talk to people face-to-face,” he admits, “so with this album, I guess I was coming off the realization that being very honest and letting people in a little bit means something to somebody.” His voice is deep and soft, and he takes his time reflecting on his preparations for the LP. “I really just wanted to challenge myself to dig even deeper and dissect myself even more, and learn more about myself in the process,” he says over the phone, having just landed in New York for his album listening party. “ I want to be a better human.” Can you buy happiness on Craigslist? These are both thoughts that passed through Christopher Gallant’s mind as he worked on Ology, his début album which also serves as an introspective study of himself. ![]() ![]() based company, Zoolz, offers great features for both personal and business use. Space #1 | pCloud (Best Secure Cloud Storage Provider of 2022) When choosing a suitable cloud storage provider there are five things you should keep in mind: Despite being the largest cloud hosting providers they are not top on our list for security for several reasons. iCloud is owned by the mega-giant corporation – Apple, and Dropbox is owned by… well – Dropbox. They both offer free storage when you sign up. However, more recently Dropbox has taken the lead with 500 million users. The biggest cloud hosting service by amount of users is a tie between Dropbox and iCloud. Back in 2013 the number of files kept on cloud storage was 1,073,741,824 Gigabytes of data – quintillion bytes – now, that is a lot of data! That was six years ago, so I’m not sure if there is even a word in the dictionary for the number of files currently stored in cloud storage. With the ever-increasing number of digital files being created, it’s becoming more and more important to store them safely. ![]() ![]()
It also has a solid ad-blocker and provides the HTTPS Everywhere integration, as well as relatively frequent security updates. Out of the box, Brave blocks browser fingerprinting, scripts, and cookies by default. Mainly developed by Brandon Eich, a former Mozilla contributor and JavaScript creator, Brave is lightweight, secure, and made specifically with privacy in mind. While Brave is a relatively new Chromium-based private browser, it already supports all major platforms – something that Tor and Ungoogled Chromium are yet to achieve. Remember that it can take a fair bit of time to find all of the right plugins that you require, so make sure you’re willing to invest the time needed to make Firefox the perfect browser. Mozilla Firefox is mostly based on customization and is perfect for those who want a completely personalized browsing experience. Supported platforms: Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS.Unless you’re looking for hardcore security, Mozilla Firefox is your best choice. Mozilla Firefox – the safest mainstream web browserĪlthough Tor may be the most battle-ready private browser out of the box, Firefox has such massive plugin support that you can configure it to compete for the top spot. This may be true in many cases, but you should consider supplementing Tor with a secure VPN service for maximum security. Tor is so secure and privacy-friendly, leading many to believe it’s all you need for protection. We also don’t recommend it for novice users as tweaking the Tor browser’s settings can easily leave you vulnerable. What’s more, Tor significantly slows down your connection because of the multiple layers it uses to hide your traffic. On the negative side, the Tor browser blocks scripts that may result in websites loading erratically. Supported platforms: Windows, macOS, Linux, Android. These features and more make Tor the absolute champion of secure browsers in terms of out-of-box privacy. And the HTTPS Everywhere integration ensures that your data is encrypted whenever you connect to a website. By using a vast network of “relays” to bounce traffic around the world, Tor makes it virtually impossible to track and identify what you’re doing online. Tor is built with privacy protection at its very core. Flash and Quicktime are also blocked by default to prevent anyone from hacking into your device using their security vulnerabilities. Thus, Tor provides a less streamlined but more secure browsing experience. This includes cookies, history, and passwords. When you close your browser window, nothing is saved. By default, Tor blocks all scripts and runs in the private browsing mode. On top of that, it’s regularly updated to deal with all of the new security issues. As the name implies, it runs on the Tor network. When your screen’s backlight turns on, different amounts of liquid pass through the pixel to create different colors.
